Lockdown & Prowl HCs: Bounty Hunting Together!

Mostly musing about these rascals taking missions outside Earth and confronting factionless aliens in space.

Because of how there are planets so different from Cybertron and Earth, the first time Lockdown would pick a few missions in places with familiar characteristics for the cyber-ninja to navigate without much effort.

Or even pick a combo of upgrades that would aid better the kid during the journey (that means making Prowl try them and walk around to test and adjust the items... like a fashion model).

If the upgrades are for combat, they would have short sparring sessions. "Short" I said but for sure they would get carried away, trying to show off at each other as usual.

Lockdown learned the hard way that the kid doesn't take well the idea of missions focused on terminating the target. After their first and last one, Prowl didn't talk to him for many Earth weeks.

Prowl disapproves of but Lockdown doesn't care much about being mean and beating targets. Usually, the mismatched mech is mindful of keeping the prey intact (sometimes is a request in the task) but there's no forgiving if they scratch an inch of paint from his partner!

(What? Attachment? Do you know how pricey is gold paint in the middle of space?)

For that same reason Lockdown is careful to pick missions with targets that look like Earth's fauna: during one of those, Prowl made him carry the thing with an absurd amount of care because the kid couldn't tolerate seeing the alien suffer.

... But if Prowl sees the target giving an unnecessary display of violence to the bounty hunter, there is no peace of mind holding him back and he will return each hit to the target. The devilish proud smile Lockdown carries around after such events can last for days, annoying the cyber-ninja a little.

If the mission doesn't take a lot of time and they have spare moments to relax, Lockdown lets Prowl explore the surroundings.

On moments like that, Prowl usually organizes "picnics" out there to celebrate the accomplishment. Most of the time, the space poncho ends as a picnic blanket.

... or a blanket in general if Prowl ends exhausted during the trip. Sleepy cocoon easy to carry for Lockdown.

Knowing alien flora doesn't last far from its original planet, Prowl started to collect and press flowers after Sari told him about that old-fashioned human pastime.

When he goes solo in missions and if he remembers, Lockdown gathers up flowers and leaves them in a little corner for Prowl to judge if they fit on the collection.

And even if he repeats, Prowl saves the trinkets anyway just for the gesture.

It's, if I recall correctly, the only performance we have full audio of to feature all nine Mechanisms, features Raphaella as Cinders and Ashes as Briar and dials up Jonny and Nastya sibling moments to ten <3

sometimes I see you on my dash and I'm like "wow these posts are pretty good but I dont remember why I followed this person" and then I load up my dwarf fort with my beloved hippogryphs

YEAAAAH im glad you like them! the hippogriffs and griffons are two of my absolute favorite creatures, so im very biased to them :) (also glad that you can tolerate my other post lol)

i suppose on that topic, it gives me a good excuse to show off the last 6 beast/giant variants going into the mods since i already finished all their sprites.

first up is the stymphalian bird! it's a small bird with feathers composed of bronze. they're docile by nature but are capable of shooting out their metal feathers to attack their predators

...on the other hand there's the giant variant, which is vicious by extension of living in savage lands

speaking of giant variants, there's 5 other ones being added

(griffon, fae dragon, bicorn, warg (it's default sprite was changed and the old sprite repurposed), and chimera)

the other brand new creatures are:

owl bear, a large carnivore with claws capable of slashing through metal. inspired by the cool looking owl bears from baldur's gate 3 that i saw when a friend was streaming the game. can be war trained if tamed

basilisk and mandrake

the basilisk are aggressive carnivores which possess a gaze that can turn their prey to stone, similar to the gorgons. unlike the gorgon's stare though, supposing their victim doesn't die while in statue form, they will return to normal after an in game week (they dont require food/water/breathing while afflicted)

Mandrake are small plant creatures who live rarely in underground lakes, where they 'breed' by planting their seeds in the ground. upon death they drop their seeds which can be planted to make very potent ale. the ale has many beneficial effects, such as helping infection and stress relief, but also has a grocery list of rare (2-10% odds) of triggering multiple ill side effects, such as nausea and sending a person into a fit of rage. made entirely just to make taverns all the more FUN

something i didn't plan to add, but added based on request: a tressym! flying cats from forgotten realms (and also baldur's gate) that i thought looked cool and had interesting enough lore to make a good addition. I only actually finished their sprites earlier tonight, and their raws aren't made yet.

going off what i read about them, they were going to be the same size as a cat, capable of being 4 different colors/coat patters, and immune to poison. it also mentioned them being able to see invisible creatures, so i'd like to play around with them having extra vision/high stats to be able to detect ambushers, tho i'd need to test to make sure they dont completely trivialize it. Was planning to make them like the griffons and wargs, where they have the [PET] token, but not [COMMON_DOMESTIC], so there's a chance for dwarves and humans to tame them in world gen, but they would hopefully be very rare due to their spawn biome (taiga?) and frequency (was thinking around 7%)

last but not least, another mega beast, this time the Undead Dragon! an undead mega beast that's intended to be a similar difficulty to the bronze colossus. it lacks blood, and damaging organs or connections doesn't bother it. It is capable of raising corpses once a day, and breathing a cool breath that makes a target drowsy and nauseous. while it can of course be killed in the usual dwarven solutions (magma, crushing) it can also be killed instantly by being speared in the skull by a spear, or decapitated. it is not capable of flight due to it's body being too rotted.

short and violent outburst of sneeze

the kind that sounds like it feels really good on an itchy throat

still girly despite that

rarely audible buildup, but you can see it coming from like a second or two in her eyes because they unfocus and squint a little

sometimes she opens her mouth a little before but she fights the urge

takes her another second to recover before a thin, wet sniffle

usually one sneeze, sometimes two with a few seconds in between

they're pretty wet but not messy, plenty of spray but she won't need to blow unless she's really sneezing up a storm

they snap her forward and cause her to basically crumple up if she doesn't steel herself ahead of time--there's a lot of force acting on the poor girl :(

she'll try to sneeze into her cloak or sleeve but they usually come on too fast

she'll sneeze into her gloves and change them pretty frequently rather than risk anyone seeing the spray (it would mortify her)

says "excuse me" around people whether blessed or not

thanks people for blessing her with an embarrassed blush

pretty allergic to trees and flowers that aren't from Great Yan

nose gets super itchy and more or less instantly turns red when exposed to allergens

alcohol also makes her very sneezy (but she's a turbo-lightweight and is basically in blackout mode after three drinks so she has bigger problems)

molds and dust are no problem, which is good because it would make urban rescues hell

spicy food also has no effect on her nose

illness affects her insofar as it more or less always turns her nose into a faucet. combine that with the forceful sneezes and it's enough to get her packing tissues

Trouvaille - WIP Game

Happy Friday everyone!! I think now is a good time to play the WIP game for Chapter Seven (as per this ask) I'll take words sent in via ask box and give a sentence or two that includes that word in the next update!
